Analysis on death causes of inpatients in certain hospital from 2009 to 2013

Objective To find out the characteristics of the death causes of hospitalized patients in Fujian Provincial Hospital from 2009 to 2013,and prepare reasonable tertiary preventions to decrease the mortality.Methods The cases were classified by ICD-10,and the statistical analysis were performed through excel software.Results Patients aged 50 and older had a significantly higher death proportion,particularly those older than 70,had the highest death proportion.The top six systemic diseases related to the death were:1)tumor,2)circulation system disease,3)respiratory system disease,4)cerebral system,5)injury,traffic accident,poison and some other consequences of external causes,6)digestive system diseases.The top five diseases directly causing the death were:1)ischemic heart disease,2)injuryand traffic accident,3)respiratory infection,4)cerebrovascular disease,5)bronchial and pulmonary malignant tumor.Conclusion Its necessary to closely concern about the formation of death causes,such as malignant tumor,cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases,traffic accident and respiratory infection,elderly age(especially over 70),and take effective prevention and treatment to control the disease occurrence and the death rate.
