Abstract
Because of the coexistence of IPv4 and IPv6 networks, the communication between the networks of these two kinds is a problem must be solved during the transition from IPv4 to IPv6.The application of the NAT-PT translation gateway is one way to solve this problem.Firstly, the NAT-PT mechanism is researched, and the process of address-translation in the NAT-PT mechanism is discussed as a special focus. Then the Linux netfilter function framework is introduced. Finally,a modularized design of the NAT-PT translation gateway is brought forward, which is based on the netfilter function framework. This modularized NAT-PT translation gateway is easy to implement and have the further function expansion.
