The Species and Landscape Application of Gesneriaceae in Guangxi

The gesneriaceae are very popular landscape plants around the world recently. Resources of the gesneriaceae in China are very abundant. But its ornamental value is not exploited all along. In this paper, the species, distribution, ecological features, ornamental character and landscape application of gesneriaceae in Guangxi are preliminarily investigated. The result shows that many species of gesneriaceae in Guangxi are of very high ornamental value, and they are worth -while to be spread. Hereinto, 32 species of gesneriaceae can be directly applied in landscape. Some proposals are provided for utilization and conservation of new cultivars, introduction and domestication, propagation and landscape application of gesneriaceae.
