Abstract

Objective To isolate and identify the chemical constituents from the 95%ethanol extract of the rhizome of Asparagus cochinchinensis(Lour.)Merr.Methods The compounds were isolated by chromatography on silica gel and TLC.The structures of the isolated compounds were identified by analysis of their spectral data and chemical properties. Results Eight compounds were isolated from Asparagus cochinchinensis(Lour.)Merr.and their structures were identified as(+)-4′-O-methylnyasol(1),(+)-nyasol(2),5,7-dihydroxyl-6,8,4′-trimethoxylflavone(3),sarsasapogenin(4),5-hydroxymethylfuraldehyde(5),β-sitosterol(6),daucosterol(7)and stigmasterol(8).Conclusions Compound 3 is isolated from this genus for the first time, and compounds 1 and 8 are isolated from this plant for the first time.
