On College Students' English Communicative Competence and Its Improvement

Abstract

The primary function of English is for communication.Due to a variety of factors,English teaching in China's colleges and universities seldom attaches importance to improving students' communicative competence.This paper analyzes the factors restricting students' English communicative competence and suggests that English teaching should strive to cultivate students' social and cultural ability and improve their communicative competence by taking a communicative way of teaching and improving traditional evaluation system.
