Study on correlation of chronic prostatitis and semen parameters

Objective To explore the effect of chronic prostatitis(CP) on male fertility.Methods The sperms of 112 chronic prostatitis patients and 96 fertile volunteers(NCP) were analyzed in the same age group,and the main semen parameters of two groups were compared.Seminal fluid was reexamined after the treatment of α-receptor blockers plus oral antibiotics to chronic prostatitis patients,and conparative analysis of semen parameters in patients with chronic prostatitis before and after treatment was made.Results There was significant difference in the semen parameters between CP group and NCP group.After oral administration of α-receptor blockers plus antibiotics,the quality of seminal fluid was significantly improved.Conclusion The chronic prostatitis brings negative effect on semen quality and sperm function.The treatment of chronic prostatitis is helpful to improve semen quality.
