Results of case-finding and treatment outcome of pulmonary tuberculosis in Huaian from 2001 to 2009

Abstract

Aim To analyze the results of case-finding and treatment outcome of pulmonary tuberculosis in Huaian City from 2001 to 2009 so as to provide evidence for tuberculosis control. Methods The data concerning TB control and incidence reports from 2001 to 2009 were collected and analyzed. Results By the end of 2009,there 3 0175 active-pulmonary TB cases and 11 859 smear positive TB cases were detected,smear positive TB cases accounted for 39.30%; The registration rate of both active-pulmonary TB and smear positive TB increased before 2005 and then decreased after 2006.The average cure rate of initial smear positive case was 92.29%. Conclusion After implementation of DOTS strategy,the detection and management of TB patients improved,the achievement of TB control is significant.
