Application of Axial CT Subtraction Angiography in Acute Cerebral Infarction

Abstract

Purpose To evaluate the application of axial CT subtraction angiography in acute cerebral infarction. Methods Regular CT and CT perfusion imaging were performed in 9 cases of acute ischemic stroke, including 2 cases with repeated examinations after treatment. Preenhanced and the most enhanced CT images were selected by two neuroradiologists and were subtracted with simple subtraction software in the CT scanner console. The two images were processed with registration, subtraction and enhancement techniques to get axial CT subtraction vascular image. Results Absent vascular in the infarctions could be seen in 9 axial CT subtraction angiography and increased vascular could be seen in 2 cases after treatment. The image quality of axial CT subtraction angiography was better than the subtraction image by the CT scanner console ( P 0.05). The axial CT subtraction angiography with subtraction factor 1 and contrast enhancement technique could suppress the background. The axial CT subtraction angiography with subtraction factor 0.8 and color enhancement technique could keep the ventricles on the background. Conclusion Combining examination with CT perfusion imaging and axial CT subtraction angiography is benefit for clinical doctors to get more hemodynamic information.
