Studies on the correlation of new recruits' psychological adjustment level and mental health

【Objective】To investigate psychological adjustment level of armed police new recruits,discuss the relation of psychological adjustment level and mental health.【Methods】 891 new recruits were assessed with General Maladjustment Scale(Gm) and SCL-90.【Results】(1)The armed police new recruits′ score of Gm(10.44±4.49)were significantly lower than Chinese adult men′s norm(P0.01).(2)Compare to Chinese adult′s norm,significant higher scores were observed in somatization,obsessive-compulsive,anxiety and psychoticism in new recruits,and lower scores in interpersonal-sensitivity,depression and hostility.(3)There were distinct positive correlations between Gm and SCL-90 factors.The SCL-90 factor score of high Gm group was higher than that of low SCS group.【Conclusion】There is a better overall level of new recruits′ adaptation.The adaptation level has much contact with mental health.
