Jing Wang

Open publisher page 20 citations

Abstract

Nida and Newmark are two outstanding western theorists in the field of translation. Both of them have rich experience in translation and they have written many articles and theoretical works on translation.Nida's dynamic equivalent translation and Newmark's semantic and communicative translation are great contribution to the translation study in the world, which also have exerted great influence in China. This paper presents a comparative study of their translation theories by using examples of English-Chinese translation.By analyzing similarities as well as differences in their theories, the paper attempts to provide ideas for researchers' reference in this field,to study different approaches toward translation so as to construct a more comprehensive and scientific translation theory.
