Pronunciation Evolution of Chinese Characters with Entering Tone from in Mengzi Dialect

Abstract

By using pronunciation of Chinese characters with entering tone in medieval time in Mengzi dialect as research object,the result shows that the evolution of Chinese characters with entering tone in Mengzi dialect is different from that of Putonghua which follows the rule of even tone and entering tone as the third tone.Most Chinese characters with entering tone in Mengzi dialect are grouped into the rising tone while only a small number of Chinese characters with nasal sound ending are classified into the other three.
