On Conventional Development and Manifestation of Traditional Chinese Opera in the Southern Song Dynasty

Under new historical and geographic circumstances, various music forms of the Southern Song dynasty changes from that of the Northern Song dynasty. The prosperity and extensive development of the music form symbolizing conventionalization of music in the Song dynasty originated and finished in the Southern Song dynasty. Taking the two most important genres of traditional Chinese opera in the Southern Song dynasty namely zaju and nanxi as research subject, the paper expounds the extensive development and conventionalization manifestation of traditional Chinese opera in the Southern Song dynasty.
