Abstract

There were altogether 11 poetic schools in the Song Dynasty.Due to political and cultural differences between the Northern Song Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty, the origins of poetic schools in the two periods are by no means the same. The institutional systems, culture, and academic activities of the Northern Song Dynasty are closely related to those of the previous dynasty, that is,the Tang Dynasty, which had poetically resulted in the phenomenon of the canonization of Tang poetry at the time. However, the Jingkang Incident(Lingering Humiliation of Jingkang) that took place at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty and that led to the subsequent formation of the Southern Song Dynasty had had a huge impact on the poetic schools of the Southern Song Dynasty. The Confucian School of Poetry which emerged at the turn of the shift from the Northern Song Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty resulted from a transformation of traditional Confucianism into the Taoist school of thoughts.
