Abstract

Objective To study the relationship of serum lipoprotein (LP) (a) and carotid atherosclerosis with cerebral infarction. Methods 110 patients with cerebral infarction were detected of LP(a) and carotid ultrasonography ,then compared with the control group. Results The incidence of carotid artery plaque and the level of LP(a) are significantly higher than that of the control group. There existed statistical significant difference(P0.01).The level of LP(a) in the carotid artery plaque group is significantly higher than it of the group that have not carotid artery plaque. There existed statistical significant difference too(P0.01).Conclusion The increase of LP(a) is independent risk factors of cerebral infarction. We can predict the risk of cerebral infarction by detecting LP(a). Carotid atherosclerosis is a important cause of cerebral infarction. It have important clinical significance to prevent cerebral infarction and reduce it recurrence by detecting carotid ultrasonography in the patients and the high-risk group of cerebral infarction.
