LI SHAOMING'S RESEARCHES ON YI NATIONALITY

Li Shaoming lived Yi area from his childhood and was interested in Yi culture when he was young.In 1953,he graduated from the Department of History of Sichuan University majoring in ethnology.During his study and work,he got much help and instruct from famous scholars,such as Chen Zongxiang,Wu Zelin,Feng Hanji,Ma Changshou and Lin Yaohua.He got a lot of achievements in his studies about national identification and social nature research on Yi nationality's history and actuality.He made clear Yi nationality's conditions before democratic reforms in Liangshan and its historical trails of development,which are much valuable to these researches on Yi nationality's ethnic origin,ethnic belonging and cultural contrast.In his charge,the ethnic investigation of Six rivers basins in Hengduan Mountains Region was unprecedented in the history of ethnic investigation in Tibetan-Yi Corridor,which had great effect both at home and abroad.Mr.Li took actively part in the communication and dialogue about the status of ethnology in China,meanwhile,he reflected on the scholarship.Mr.Li published quite a lot of positive academic results.
