Abstract
Based on the data collected from the on test shrimp trawl nets and the control nets which operated off Fujian Sea during Aug.and Sept.2006,the composition of the catch were analysed and compared. The result showed that the catch ratios of species were greatly affected by different mesh sizes of cod-net and selective devices installed in different ways in the mouth of cod-net.The total numbers of species in catches were 79 during test period including 57species of fish,4 species of shrimps,5 species of cephalopods,10 species of crabs,3 species of squillas.Comparing with those of control groups, the catch rates of commercial juvenile fish, shrimps and cephalopods of test nets decreased by 48.3% and the average catch increased by 3.82%.
