Abstract

[Objective] To investigate the nutritional knowledge, attitude and dietary behaviors of University student, so as to provide a basis for implementing nutrition and health education and intervention. [Methods] The method of cluster random sampling was used to select the students from university in Lanzhou, and then they were investigated with self-designed questionnaires about nutrition, attitude and dietary behaviors. [Results] The average nutrition knowledge score was 24.1 ± 5.6, the average attitude score was 22.4 ± 3.8, and behavior of the average score was 16.3 ± 2.9. The average score of nutritional knowledge and attitude of the female was better than it of male, but the average score of practice of the male was better than it of female. Nutritional knowledge was positively correlated with attitude (r= 0.215, P = 0.001). Most of the students had desire to understand how to prevent the malnutrition (95.5%) . At present, nutritional knowledge was obtained by newspaper or books (82.1%) and TV (64.7%). [Conclusion] College students in Lanzhou are deficient nutritional knowledge. Effective nutritional education should be carried out to improve the knowledge and provide support for forming healthy behaviors.
