Abstract
To explore the mechanism of male sterility in watermelon G17AB line, the differences of genetic expression between male sterile buds and male fertile buds in watermelon G17AB line were studied with mRNA differential display method. Two specific cDNA fragments, named as C13F and G10S ,were obtained. The sequence analysis showed that C13F fragment was 80% identical to code sequence of mRNA of beta-glucosidase-like protein in Arabidopsis thaliana, and G10S fragment was 92% identical to code sequence of Phaseolus vulgaris ubiquitin mRNA.The possible causes of male sterility in watermelon G17AB line were discussed.
