EVALUATION ON AIDS HIGH-RISK BEHAVIORS INTERVENTION AMONG FEMALE SEX WORKERS IN ENTERTAINMENT PLACES OF FUZHOU

[Objective] To understand HIV /AIDS knowledge and high-risk behaviors,evaluate the effectiveness of AIDS intervention among female sex workers in entertainment places.[Methods] A total of 20 different types of entertainment venues were sampled as entertainment sites in Fuzhou.Intervention activities included peer education,AIDS /STD counseling and health education,behavior intervention.Questionnaires about knowledge,attitude and behavior were conducted among female sex workers in the pre-and post-intervention respectively.[Results] Compared with pre interventions in female sex workers,the percentage of condom use consistently within 1 month was raised from 51.6% to 86.2%.The proportion of condom use in the last sexual behavior was raised from 83.1% to 93.8%.The rate of condom use with fixed sexual partner was raised from 37.6% to 67.9% and while the unused rate of condom was declined from 55.6% to 26.5%.The rate of correct medical care was raised from 52.3% to 67.3%.[Conclusion] The intervention has shown its feasibility and effectiveness on health education on STD /AIDS awareness and safe sexual behavior among female sex workers,and it also plays an important role in keeping STD /AIDS away from high risk population to general population.
