沙漠は乾燥した厳しい環境の土地であるが, 決して不毛の土地ではない.厳しい環境要因の元でも植物たちは適応し, 生活を続けているし, 動物は植物と密接な関係を保ちながら生存している, そうした乾燥地の環境特性を明らかにすることは, 沙漠化の原因やその対策を考える上で必要なことである.そこで, 今回は乾燥地の環境条件として降雨量, 温度, 相対湿度, 風土壌条件についてまとめてみた.
