Abstract

This paper presents some failure examples of actual machine components caused by corrosion fatigue, stress corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement, and describes their fractographic features.Rotary machine components and chemical plant components were taken as examples of corrosion fatigue cracking, and stress corrosion or hydrogen embrittlement cracking, respectively.Microfractographic observations of fractured surfaces were carried out by a scanning electron microscope.
