Abstract
The absorption coefficients of the compressed gases hydrogen, nitrogen, and a heliumargon mixture have been determined in the wave number region 20–400 cm-1. A Michelson interferometer has been used to make the measurements. Accurate absorption coefficients may be obtained using the Fourier Transform method of spectroscopy provided certain precautions are taken in the analysis. These precautions are discussed and typical absorption spectra are shown.
