Abstract
Objective:To investigate association between the polymorphic(AT)n repeats in the 3 untranslated region of exon-4 of cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated antigen-4 [CTLA-4(AT) n] and Graves'disease in western Guangdong Han population. Methods:The CTLA-4(AT) n polymorphisms were genotyped via PCR-RFLP in 102 GD patients and 100 healthy controls. Results:Seventeen alleles were observed in the population, with sizes ranging from 84 to 128bp.There was no significant difference when compared with controls in the distribution of the genotypes(P 0.05).This investigation indicated that the gene of CTLA-4(AT) n was not susceptible gene for Graves disease. Conclusion:This study suggests that CTLA-4(AT) n gene may not be susceptible gene to Graves disease for the western Guangdong Han population.
