SURVEY ON THE AIDS KNOWLEDGE,ATTITUDE AND RELATED INFLUENCES AMONG MIGRANT WORKERS

[Objective] To investigate the knowledge and attitude towards AIDS and their determinants among migrant workers in Panyu District,and to provide information in designing effective strategy of health education on AIDS. [Methods] An anonymous self-filled questionnaire was conducted on among migrant workers,and the participants were recruited by convenience sampling around downtown and parks in Panyu district. [Results] 1153 effective questionnaires were collected. The integrated awareness rate of AIDS awareness was 58.37% in migrant workers. The awareness rate of infecting through sexual behaviors may accounted for 46.7% . 65.8% of subjects were very afraid of contacting with AIDS patients. The multivariate analysis identified that the education level(high school and secondary technical school level: OR = 2.79,95%CI: 4.44-11.49;junior college or above: OR = 7.14,95%CI: 2.14-3.64) and the time of working outside(OR = 1.29,95%CI: 1.01-1.66) were the main influencing factors for the awareness of AIDS knowledge in migrant workers. [ Conclusion] At present,migrant workers in the city of AIDS is still in very low awareness level,so we should be further strengthened the health education for AIDS related knowledge,especially for those the low education level and long time working outside migrant workers(﹤2 years) .
