Abstract
Some of the views expressed in Mr. North's paper on “the construction and maintenance of roads,” being at variance with the results of the experience of our firm, in the building of 36 000 square yards of Telford roads in 1875 and 1876, and about 25 000 square yards in 1878 and 1879, part of this latter amount being now in the course of construction, we herewith submit the principal facts in relation to these roads, and our conclusions therefrom.
