Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical distribution and drug resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in our hospital and provide basis for rational drug therapy.METHODS Samples isolated from outpatients and inpatients between Jul 2008 and Oct 2009 were carried out by routine culture and identification for pathogenic bacteria. And drug sensitivity test was performed. The clinical distribution and drug resistance of P.aeruginosa were obtained by statistical analysis.RESULTS Totally 350 P.aeruginosa strains were derived from clinical specimens, accounting for 21.4% of all pathogenic isolates.P.aeruginosa was mainly obtained from ICU and neurosurgery ward;and most isolated from sputum samples which accounting for 58.3%(204).Drug resistant rate of P.aeruginosa to ampicillin was the highest(97.8%) but lower resistant rate to meropenem(33.4%).The lowest resistance to polymyxin E(8.9%),and resistant to other antimicrobial agents at various degrees was found.CONCLUSION The infection rate of P.aeruginosa is highly prominent, and its drug resistance and multiple drug resistance are serious.Antimicrobial treatment to P.aeruginosa infection should be guided by drug sensitivity test.
