Dissipation and Persistence of Dimethoate and Ethion Residues in/on Chilli, Capsicum annuum (L.)

Abstract

A filed experiment was conducted to study the dissipation and persistence of dimethoate and ethion residues in/on chilli [Capscium annuum (L)]. The crop was sprayed twice with dimethoate 30 EC @ 300 and 600 g a. i. and ethion 50 EC @ 500 and 1000 g a. i. ha−1 45 days after transplanting the sapling from nursery to field and second spray at 15 days interval of first spray. The initial deposit of dimethoate residues on chillies was 3.12 and 5.16 mgkg−1 and the half life values 1.74 and 1.51 days respectively at 300 and 600 g a. i. ha−1 and the respective waiting periods were 3.29 and 4.50 days. In case of ethion, initial deposit were 2.40 and 4.84 mg kg−1, half life 1.81 and 2.32 days and waiting periods 2.65 and 5.63 days at 500 and 1000 g a. i. ha−1, respectively. Red chilli powder did not carry residues of dimethoate and ethion.
