Impact of Trichoderma viride culture filtrate and organic substrate against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on brinjal.

Abstract

In vitro effect of Trichoderma viride culture filtrate against Meloidogyne incognita revealed that egg hatching inhibition and larval mortality was observed at all culture filtrate concentrations. The hatching inhibition effect and the larval mortality was found to be increased with the increase in culture filtrate concentration and recorded lowest at lowest concentration and maximum at maximum concentration. Highest plant height, root length and nematode multiplication was observed best in T6 treatment (18.50, 7.50 & 6.64), respectively followed by T5, T4, and T3, T2 and T1 treatment in descending order. Among organic amendded treatments, cow dung treatment (T4) and goat dung treatment was observed best for nematode management, plant growth and multiplication. The maximum hatching and mortality reduction was (12.75, 23.00, 42.25, 53.75 71.00 & 80.00) and (167.50, 157.25, 140.00, 123.25, 45.25 with minimum reduction in control 172.75 at 48 hrs of incubation, respectively. In vivo effect of antagonistic fungus was recorded with or without organic manure (vermicompost, cow dung, goat dung manure and poultry manure) on the nematode multiplication. The multiplication reduction % over the inoculated check was maximum in treated check T8, (85.09) followed by T1(69.88) T4(69.13) T2(68.82) T3, (68.37) and T5(52.71) treatments.
