Investigation and management countermeasure on current status of hand hygiene of medical workers.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the situation and effective strategies of hand hygiene.METHODS One hundred and twenty medical workers were randomly picked out from nine clinical departments,and inquired with questionnaire.RESULTS The awareness rate of hand hygiene knowledge in the medical workers was 46.0%.The compliance rate of hand hygiene was 35.5%,and the departments with higher compliance rate were neonatal ward(65.1%) and obstetrics and gynecology(45.6%),and the lowest was intensive care unit(ICU)(19.6%).There was significantly statistic difference between the compliance rate before(26.7%) and after(42.6%) operation.CONCLUSIONS The compliance rate of hand hygiene in medical workers is low,which is associated with many factors.The proposed study of the compliance of hand hygiene may provide an important approach to the management for hand hygiene.
