Effect of Sowing Dates on Cauliflower (Brassica Oleracea Var. Botrytis L.) Early Patna Seed Production

Abstract

Sowing of seeds on 15th and 25th June at par among themselves was found significantly superior in increasing the plant height, number of main branches, length of pod, number of seeds per pod, 100 seed weight, seed yield and seed germination during both the years of experimentation. Third and fourth dates i.e. 5th and 15th July also increased the plant height, number of main branches, length of pod and seed yield over last date (5th August) but were inferior to first two dates. These dates (5th and 15th July) did not mark any effect on 100 seed weight, and seed germination. The last two dates of sowing i.e. 25th July and 5th August were poor yielder and also produced seeds of poor quality. Sowing of cauliflower seeds on 25th June is found to be most beneficial for cauliflower cv. Early Patna seed production in calcareous sandy loam soil of North Bihar.
