Abstract
Secondary metabolites from culture broth and mycelia of Trichoderma virens were extracted by organic solvents. Chloroform extract of culture filtrate was found to be very active against Sclerotium rolfsil (ED50 = 11.94 ppm), Rhizoctonia bataticola (ED50 = 25.73 ppm) and Macrophomina phaseolina (ED50 = 39.34. ppm). Similarly dichloromethane extract of dried mycella was found to be more active against Rhizoctonia bataticola (ED 50 = 12.52 ppm), Macrophomina phaseolina (ED50= 16.39 ppm) and Rhizoctonia solani (ED50= 53.54 ppm) as compared to subsequent methanol extract. Dried mycelia powder showed antagonism and suppression of pathogenic fungi by dual culture method.
