Abstract

Field trial on okra cv. Arka Anamika was conducted with six treatments and a control. Two foliar sprays were conducted one was of neonicotinoids viz., thiamethoxam @25g a.i. /ha in first four treatments while it was of acetamiprid @20g a.i. /ha in other two treatments. In second spray, two dosages of each insecticide viz., triazophos (350 & 700g a.i. /ha), deltamethrin (10 & 20g a.i. /ha) and their registered mixtures, triazophos + deltamethrin (360 & 720g a.i. /ha) were assessed against various insect pests of okra. Results revealed that neonicotinoids were very effective against leafhopper, Amrasca biguttula biguttula and whitefly, Bemisia tabaci in all treatments during first spray. All treatments were effective against leafhoppers and whiteflies during II spray except treatments with low dose of triazophos (350g a.i. /ha) and deltamethrin (10g a.i. /ha), which were not effective against whiteflies. As far as infestation due to shoot and fruit borer, Earias vittella was concerned, the damage in various treatments ranged from 2.4–14.2% compared to 27.3% in untreated check.
