Abstract
An experimental trial was undertaken to evaluate six insecticide schedules along with a control against insect pests of okra. Since the infestation in north India mainly starts with sucking insect pests, hence first spray was conducted of systemic insecticide followed by an insecticide mixture in second spray followed by insecticide for borers in third spray. All treatments are effective on 1st and 7th day of first spray while propagite@850g a.i./ha was also effective on 14th day also against leafhoppers. Mixture, triazophos + deltamethrin@360g a.i./ha in majority of observations while other two mixtures are effective in only few cases against leafhopper. In whiteflies, all treatments are effective in 1st day to first spray while triazophos+ deltamethrin mixture was effective in second spray. As far as shoot and fruit borer, Earia vittella concerned, all treatments are effective on weight as well as number basis. Borer infestation on weight basis varied from 1.20–7.21% as compared to 15.41% in untreated check. However, increase in yield was highest (74.15%) in treatment schedule having spiromesifen @100g a.i./ha followed by chlorpyriphos+cypermethrin @550g a.i./ha followed by carbofuran@125g a.i./ha. The treatment containing sprays of pymetrozine @120g a.i./ha followed by profenophos+cypermethrin @440g a.i./ha followed by spinosad@75g a.i./ha at fortnightly intervals were next (50.45%).
