Abstract

During storage, varietal differences in pearl millet to the rice wee-vil, Sitophilus oryzae Linn.; lesser grain borer, Rhizopertha dominica Fabr. and rust red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum Herbst, were significant and the average per cent grain damage of these pests ranged from 7.3 to 59.5%, 6.3 to 36.1% and 7.3 to 44.3%, respectively. Two entries, via, ICMH 451 and Raj 171 showed multiple resistance to all the three pests in the first trial, the most susceptible entry being HHB 67. In the second trial, 4 entries, viz, X6, ICMV 221, Raj 171 and RHB 58 were promising only against the rust red flour beetle on the basis of least grain damage and number of adults emerged. In both the trials, one entry Raj 171 showed promise against all the three pests.
