Screening of cucumber rootstocks for autumn cultivation.

Cucumber cultivar Jinyou No.1 was grafted onto 5 interspecific hybrid squash Yongzhen No.2,0615,0616,1101 and T132 to screen proper rootstock for cucumber production in the fall.Grafting compatibility,seedling vigor,fruit quality and heat tolerance were used to select proper rootstock.Rootstocks Yongzhen No.2,1101 and T132 out performed others.Grafted plants produced 16.7% more yield than no-grafted plants and rootstocks had no obvious influence on fruit quality.After grafting the cucumber cultivar Jinyou No.1 produced fruit with shiny skin and better appearance.Yongzhen No.2,1101 and T132 are suitable for cucumber production in the autumn in Ningbo.
