Abstract
Afield experiment was conducted to study the residues of γ-cyhalothrin on okra fruits following appllcation @ 15 and 30 g ai ha−1. Initial deposits of 0.120 and 0.164 mg kg−1 at 15 and 30 g ai ha−1 treatments dissipated to 0.011 ana 0.014 mg kg−1 in 10 days after third application with half-life of 2.92 and 2.86 days. The residues degraded to below detectable level (<0.009 mg kg−1) in 15 days. As the initial deposits in both the doses were less than MRL, a safe waiting period of 1.0 day is suggested. Washing of okra fruits with tap water removed γ-cyhalothrin residues to the extent of 40.0–42.7% in 0-day samples and 30.8–33.9% in 5th day samples.
