Lipoma Mimicking Ranula on the Floor of Mouth–A Case Report

Lipomas are benign mesenchymal neoplasms composed of mature adipocytes, usually surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule. 15 to 20% of the cases involve the head and neck region. It is rare in the oral cavity. Lipoma of the oral cavity may occur in any region. The most affected anatomical sites in the oral cavity include buccal mucosa, lips, and tongue. The floor of the mouth, palate, retromolar pad and salivary glands are less frequently involved. Here, we report a case of a 59 year old female who presented with a large intraoral lipoma of the floor of the mouth which is one of the rarest site of occurrence.
