Intra Oral Lipoma - A Case Report

Lipomas are benign mesenchymal neoplasms composedof mature adipocytes, usuallysurrounded by a thinfibrous capsule, that can be found in any part of the human body.1,2 About 20% of the lipomas occur in the head and neck region, out of which oral lipomas comprise of only 1 to 4% of cases.2Oral lipomas are clinically soft, smooth-surfaced nodular masses that mostly are less than 3 cmin size. Typically the tumor is asymptomatic unless bitten or become noticeable because of their size. The buccal mucosa and buccal vestibule are the most common intraoral sites and account for 50% ofall cases.3 Herein, I present a case of a 65 year old male patient with a sessile growth of right buccal mucosa The aim of this paper is to present the importance of diagnosis and treatment of intraoral lipoma.
