Abstract
In two year studies imidacloprid 70 WS @ 5–10g/kg seed was found highly effective and significantly superior to carbosulfan 25 DS @ 50 g/kg seed in controlling the sucking pests of okra viz., aphid (Aphid gossypil), thrips (Thrips tabaci), Jassid (Amrasca bigutulla bigutulla) and white fly (Bemisia tabaci). Imidacloprid 20 SL @ 100–125 ml/ha was also equally effective against the pest complex and significantly superior to monocrotophos 36 SL @ 1000 ml/ha. Neither of the formulations of imidacloprid has any adverse effect on seed germination or plant growth or natural enemies.
