Abstract
Nine insecticides, viz, malathion, endosulfan, phosphamidon monocrotophas, quinalphos, dimethoate, oxydemeton methyl, cypermethrin and fenvalerate were evaluated for their effectiveness against Aphis gossypii infesting brinjal. The pre-treatment mean aphid population ranged from 14.0 to 19.6 aphids/10 leaves. On the basis of aphid population recorded 1, 3, 5, 7, 10 and 15days after treatment, all the insecticidal treatments were found effective in reducing the pest population significantly in comparison to control. Oxydemeton-methyl 0.05% proved to be the most effective and significantly superior to rest of the treatments, except dimethoate 0.03% and monocrotophos 0.036%. Cypermethrin and fenvalerate each at 0.01% proved less effective.
