Abstract
Monocrotophos was adjudged as the best chemical for the control of jassid, Amrasca biguttula biguttula and aphid, Aphis gossypii, followed by cypermethrin. The pyrethroids enhanced the mite population, where as pyrethorids in combination with an acaricide (dinobuton) were found to be effective in reducing the mite population. Cypermethrin was effective in reducing the leaf eating caterpillar, Spodoptera litura and recorded the less incidence of fruit borer, Earias vitella followed by fenvalerate and permethrin. Monocrotophos and cypermethrin were the best treatments in contributing highest yields of 16.78 and 15.22 tons/ha., whereas it was 7.91 tons/ha in the untreated control.
