Dynamics of development and present status of Montbeliard cattle breed in Bulgaria.

This article presents the study of the status and development of the Montbeliard cattle breed in Bulgaria. The analysis results show that during the time period of 2005 to 2012 there was an import of 1,339 animals in the country. The increase in the number of animals is relatively low and is mainly on the part of the native-born ones. In 2012 by a breeding control are 1498 cows from 20 farms divided mainly in East region of the country. The average milk yield of the assessed cows (2010-2012) is 5581-5867 kg with 3.91 to 4.01% fat and 3.41 to 3.45% protein.
