Application analysis of HPV testing and thinprep cytologic test in screening of cervical lesion

Abstract
Objective:To explore the application of human papillomavirus(HPV) detection and Thinprep Cytology test(TCT) as well as their clinical significance in screening cervical lesions.Methods: The detection results of 13 high-risk HPV-DNA(HR-HPV) from cervical scrapes of 733 women were retrospectively reviewed,in which 227 women were performed TCT and the results have also been analysed.According to the cytological results,227 women were divided into four groups and the results of HR-HPV of every group were analyzed.Results: Among 733 women,119(16.2%)were found to be high-risk HPV positive.On the whole,the infection rates of HR-HPV in all age groups had no significant difference(P=0.568),and it was the same case with the abnormal rates of TCT in all age groups(P=0.203).The detection rates of HR-HPV DNA in four groups were 9.5%,63%,90.9% and 80%.Overall,the infection rates of HR-HPV in the above four cytological gradings had significant difference(P=0.000).Among the TCT positive cases(above AO),the trend that detection rates of HR-HPV DNA increased with the rise of the abnormal grade was not obvious.Conclusion: Combination of TCT and HPV testing can improve the positive predictive value in screening of cervical epithelial lesions.
