Diseases pattern in goats of Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

The prevalence of specific diseases (32.61%) were more prominent followed by parasitic (28.26%) and digestive (21.74%) respiratory (6.52%) reproductive (6.52%) and other (4.35%) diseases. Highest mortality was due to parasitic diseases (45.0%), whereas specific, digestive and respiratory diseases had 15.0% mortality each.. Kids were highly affected by parasitic (63.64%) and respiratory diseases (9.09%). In young stocks highest prevalence of morbidity/mortality digestive diseases (30.77%) was observed. Males were affected more by digestive diseases (37.5%) followed by parasitic (37.50%) and respiratory diseases (12.50%). But females were affected by specific diseases (43.33%) followed by reproductive disorders (10.0%) and other diseases (6.67%). In kids mortality due to parasitic diseases (63.64%) was higher than other age groups. Young stocks showed relatively high mortality due to digestive and parasitic diseases (40.0%), while major causes of mortality in case of adults was due to other diseases (50.0%). Mortality in males was more by parasitic diseases (50.0%) followed by specific (20.0%) and digestive diseases (20.0%). In females highest mortality was due to parasitic diseases (40.0%) followed by other diseases (20.0%) and parasitic diseases (20.0%).
