New rewind services said to boost efficiency of motors

Abstract
The premium price of rewinding motors with additional copper wire pays off with improved motor efficiency up to five percent and has a payback period of two years to less than one year. The companies offering this service recommend it only after motor burnout when rewinding is normally required, although one company sees benefits from rewinding operating equipment. Other companies dispute the efficiency benefits of rewinding. Two directories list major electric motor and motor speed control manufacturers. (DCK)
