Abstract
Are energy-efficient motors always the best buy. It is found that they are. All other factors being equal, if you can get a motor of higher efficiency at the same price-grab it. Should you pay a price premium to get a motor of still higher efficiency. Quite often, but not necessarily; each motor purchase must be evaluated for the speccific application. In addition to returning substantial savings in energy charges, energy-efficient motors can reduce the power demand charge, which can be a significant portion of the electric bill. Additional savings can accrue from reduced maintenance expense. Because energy-efficient motors run cooler than their less efficient counterparts, both winding and bearing life are prolonged.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
