Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during winter season of 2002–03 and 2003–04 at Student Instructional Farm of C S Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur with Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czern. & Cosson] to study the effect of different levels of nitrogen and sulphur on yield, nutrient uptake and seed quality. Application of 90 kg N and 30 kg S/ha significantly increased the seed, oil and protein yields, and protein content of seed. The uptake of both N and S by seeds increased with increasing levels of each nutrient. Higher doses of N decreased the oil percentage in seed whereas sulphur up to 40 kg/ha significantly increased it.
