Abstract
In order to support the introduction of new Electric Multiple Units (EMUs), a static frequency converter fed from the national three-phase grid i being used to strengthen the traction power supply on Queensland Rail's Brisbane suburban network. Suburban rail capacity is to be increased by around 30% over the next few years, under the New Generation Rolling-stock project launched by the state government in 2013.
