Occurrence of Pests in Relation to Degradation of Insecticides, in Brinjal Crop During Summer and Kharif Seasons

Abstract

Major activity of brinjal pests were observed between 60–90 days after planting (DAP). Two spray treatment at 60 and 75 DAP proved to be the most ideal in suppressing the population of jassids, whitefly and fruit borer. All the insecticidal treatment were found to be superior over control in increasing the crop yield by reducing the pest complex of brinjal. Monocrotophos was effective against jassids for more than 20 days, endosulfan for 15–20 days and phosalone for 10–15 days. Jassid and whitefly were highly susceptible to monocrotophos while fruit borer was to endosulfan. The residues of endosulfan, phosalone and monociotophos degraded below MRL in 2, 5 and 7 days respectively. Washing and cooking further helped in decontaminating the fruits by 50–70% of residues.
