Abstract

Three foliar applications of each of monocrotophos (0.04%) and phosphamidon (0.03%) on wild pomegranate reduced more than 70% fruit borer infestation and 7550 and 30% due to mealy bug, Drosicha dalbergiae, Aphis sp. and green bug, Nezara sp., respectively. Their residues in kernels at harvest following four sprays were analysed by gas chromatography and were below the maximum residue level of 1.0 and 0.2 mg/kg, respectively. Residues of recommended concentration of monocrotophos and its double concentration were reduced to undetectable limit (< 0.01 mg/kg) after 3rd and 5th day of sampling. In the case of phosphamidon, both such concentrations (0.03 and 0.06%) became undetectable in 1st day sampled fruits.
